Named for a Roman patron of literature and the arts, the Maecenas Society was formed in 1995 by a group of parents who wanted to provide significant financial support to Caddo Magnet High School in its continuing quest for excellence. A purely philanthropic organization now comprised of parents, grandparents, and friends of current and former students, the Society exists for the sole purpose of funding the much needed "big ticket" items that are not provided by the Caddo Parish School Board and that may be beyond the reach of other fund-raising efforts. As indicated, the Society has provided over $500,000 for the funding of a number of hi-impact, primarily technology-oriented projects.
Utilizing the practical input of our talented faculty as well as the visionary insight of our Principal, Miss Mary Rounds, the Maecenas Board will channel this year's contributions into projects that have the potential to favorably impact the overall educational experience at Magnet in the current school year and many years to come. Each year the Society also funds the Mary Jane Malone Lecture Series, which brings a nationally-recognized author to the school for the benefit of the students and the Shreveport community.
Membership in the Society is open to everyone and requires an annual contribution of at least $500. This contribution is tax deductible. If you would like additional information, please contact any member of the Maecenas Board. To join, simply fill out this membership form.
